Ellakanda Canopy Kitchen
Our Story

A Kitchen Built 15 Metres Into The Forest Canopy

Nestled within the tranquil forests of Ellakanda, Matara, Ellakanda Canopy Kitchen was created to share the authentic flavours of Sri Lanka in an extraordinary setting. Founded in 2022 by local hosts, our unique open-air canopy kitchen is built 15 metres above the forest floor, surrounded by towering jackfruit and coconut trees. Here, nature and tradition come together to create an unforgettable culinary experience.

Every dish is prepared using treasured family recipes passed down through generations, cooked over a traditional cinnamon firewood stove in clay pots and infused with freshly hand-ground spices. As the fresh forest breeze flows through the canopy and the sounds of birds and rustling leaves surround you, every moment becomes a celebration of Sri Lanka's rich culinary heritage.

More than a meal, Ellakanda Canopy Kitchen is an immersive experience where authentic flavours, nature, and heartfelt hospitality come together high above the forest.
